A complete hematologic response (CHR) means:
White blood cell count returns to normal
Platelet count returns to normal
No blast cells detected
Spleen size is normal
No signs or symptoms of CML

Most people treated for CML achieve a CHR
Achieving a CHR 3 months after starting treatment is one of the key milestones for people newly diagnosed with CML
If you do not achieve a complete hematologic response (CHR) by the recommended time point, you may be evaluated to see if you are taking your medication correctly and, if appropriate, be considered for other treatment options
Your doctor will want to have your blood tested periodically to see if your counts are normal
